Protected Voices reflects on communication within safe environments. The work considers the shift that happens when people feel protected enough to speak, express, or confront. For those like myself, moving through the world within the diaspora, that protection is not always present, and voice can feel conditional or withheld. This painting is not about volume or visibility, but about the conditions that allow words to form. When safety exists, communication becomes more measured, shaped by trust rather than pressure. The work holds that space where expression is possible because it is protected.
