A state of continuous self-observation, where behaviour is adjusted in real time. Expression emerges through constant internal editing, shaped by environment, perception, and learned response. The marks are deliberate and loaded, the surface carrying the weight of that internal activity. Close-range figuration strips away environmental context, leaving only the mechanism itself, the ongoing process of watching, adjusting, and containing. Not a moment but a condition. One that runs beneath everything else.
